Aircraft Accident and Incident Investigation


Introduction

  • This course is taught using a variety of Instructional Methods including Lecture, Class Discussion, Role-plays, Case Studies, Demonstrations, Audio Visuals and Small Group work.

Objectives

After successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate familiarization with the responsibilities of the States involved.
  • Identify the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) adopted by ICAO and its Contracting States.
  • Identify the accident notification systems and the appropriate responses.
  • Identify the role of the investigator, the skills he will need to acquire, and the accident investigation process.
  • Demonstrate familiarization with the investigators’ personal equipment and protective clothing.
  • Understand the considerations that should be taken into account at the accident site
  • Identify the methods of gathering and reviewing relevant documentation and procedures.
  • Describe Communication and recording media.
  • Demonstrate familiarization with the Witness interviews.
  • Learn the examination of relevant maintenance documents.
  •  Understand the importance of Organizational and management information.
  • Define and recognize the Human Factors issues involved.
  • Describe methods of analyzing the factual information gathered.
  •  Write reports and take responsibility of an accident investigator.
  • Deal with the news media and public relations.
