
Aerodrome CNS Engineering Course
Introduction
- Air Navigation systems are now implemented and operated globally.
- Aviation is going beyond geographical boundaries and personnel involved in the maintenance and installation of the CNS/ATM systems should be trained to uniform requirements on a worldwide basis.
- This course is designed to acquire basic, advanced knowledge and skills for Air Traffic Safety Electronics personnel (ATSEP) in Air navigation services Providers (ANSPs) and get familiar with the communication, Navigation and surveillance systems. The training content is focused on ensuring compliance with the objectives of ICAO and ECAA.
- Be familiar with air navigation services provider (ANSP) and various roles inside. Mainly ATC and AIS.
- Understand principles of the CNS/ATM technical and operational environment.
- Be familiar with related organizations and regulations and their official documentations.
- Awareness of principles used in voice and data communications, navigation aids and surveillance.
- Awareness of principles used in satellite communications.
- Awareness of the principles used in primary and secondary radar and other surveillance systems and the integration within the ATM operations.
- Awareness of principles used in computer information systems and the integration within the ATM operations.
- Awareness of principles used in the data processing systems and their use in ATM operations.
- Be familiar with systems performance measurements and calibration.
- Understand the principles for CNS/ATM maintenance procedures development and management (ATSEP systems monitoring and control SMC).
- The important of safety management process in CNS/ATM environment.
- Get updated with new technologies in Air navigation field.
Objectives
- Familiarization with civil aviation organizations, regulations and authorities and overview on official documentations.
- The course provides participants with an overview of air navigation services and various roles in ANSPs (ATC, AIS, ATSEP, …..)
- The course provides the participants with the fundamental knowledge of the most important system, equipment and procedures within the CNS/ATM Environment, as well as the role of an ATSEP and his/her responsibility
- By the end of this course the trainee should have acquired general knowledge regarding:
1- The communication, navigation and surveillance techniques and concepts.
2- The current and emerging communication, navigation and surveillance systems in use in ATM
3- The working principles and general concepts of communication and radio navigation aids
4- Purposes, principles and role of voice communication systems in ATM
