
PANS-OPS Recurrent / Update Training – Amendment 10
Introduction
The purpose of this course is to update qualified flight procedure designers on the changes introduced through latest Amendment 10, ensuring that their knowledge and design practices remain aligned with the latest ICAO provisions and to maintain proficiency and familiarity with current PANS-OPS provisions.
Objectives
- Interpret the key changes and new provisions introduced by PANS-OPS Doc 8168, Volume II, Amendment 10.
- Analyze the impact of Amendment 10 on existing and future instrument flight procedure (IFP) design projects, including departures, and approach procedures.
- Apply the updated criteria for RNP-based navigation, including new requirements for T-Bar and Y-bar procedures.
- Evaluate and apply the updated requirements for helicopter point-in-space (PinS) procedures to ensure compliance and operational safety.
- Understanding the relationship between ICAO PANS-OPS and ARINC 424.
- Updates to the “Navigation Database Coding” Chapter in ICAO Doc 8168 Vol II, aligning it with the latest ARINC 424 supplement (–24).
- Exploring ARINC 424 Structure and the New Supplement 24 enhancements (new Path Terminator “HI”, TF leg as first SID leg, VNAV coding)
- Practical coding examples
