Basic Aeronautical Information Services (AIS)


Introduction

The goal of the course is to provide persons desirous of pursuing a career in Aeronautical Information Service/Management; with initial training to acquire the requisite knowledge, skills and attitudes to effectively collect, validate, classify, prepare, publish aeronautical data and information, and to provide aeronautical briefing services; in accordance with ICAO Annex 15 Aeronautical Information Services.

Objectives

By the end of this Course the Participants will be able to;-

  • Describe the needs of the operator and the flight crew to the AIS. 
  • Define the information handled by AIS.
  • Draw the steps to implement the quality system of AIS.
  • Scan the CRS of air navigation.
  • Notify the modes of COM with AIS.
  • Describe the NOTAM objectives.
  • Demonstrate the use of NOTAM code. 
  • State the instructions for the completion of NOTAM.
  • Draw the steps for NOTAM distribution.
  • Scan the trigger NOTAM.
  • Respond to the AIRAC regulation.
  • Define the significant dates of AIRAC.
  • Differentiate among AIP AMDT, AIP SUP and AIC.
  • Notify the PIB in general.
  • Describe the ARO location.
  • Determine the specifications of charts.
  • State the charts contained in the AIP.
  • Draw approach to PBN.
  • Explain how to use the annex and document easily.
  • Respond to the submission of FPL.
  • Describe the contents of FPL.
  • Respond to the closing of FPL.
  • Define the acceptance of FPL.
  • Recognize the RPL.
  • Demonstrate the relation between item 10 and 18.

Prerequisite


  • The participants should have university degree or at least high school degree and hold ICAO course 051 or Basic course (052).
